Youth Leads UK Announces New Co-Chairs to Drive 2030 Strategy
Youth Leads UK is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Toorawa and Chloe Bennett as its new co-chairs, marking a new step in the organisation’s journey toward digital transformation, strengthened safeguarding, and expanded youth leadership opportunities.
This transition builds on the strong foundations laid by outgoing Chair, Saimah Malji, reaffirming our commitment to amplifying the voices of the young people we serve.
After nine years of dedicated service across three terms, Saimah’s leadership has significantly strengthened the organisation, overseeing the charity’s expansion, securing record-breaking funding, and pioneering initiatives that have empowered thousands of young people.
Saimah has been a driving factor in transitioning from the organisation’s founding project, ‘Xplode’, to an award-winning full-service charity, Youth Leads UK. Saimah’s contribution has led to the strongest financial and delivery performance to date. Saimah has always had a consistent focus and commitment to ensuring youth were at the forefront of all decision-making at Youth Leads UK, as exemplified by the formation of the Youth Advisory Board.
Saimah Malji, outgoing Chair of Youth Leads UK said:
“Leading Youth Leads UK has been an incredible journey. Together, we’ve transformed the organisation, empowered thousands of young people, and built a strong foundation for the future. Adam and Chloe bring the passion and vision needed to take us even further – I can’t wait to see what they achieve!”
The introduction of a co-chair model reflects a forward-thinking approach to governance, ensuring diverse perspectives in decision-making, strengthening collaboration, and enhancing inclusivity. This model fosters shared leadership, enhances strategic decision-making, and ensures diverse perspectives are represented at the highest level of governance.
As long-standing Trustees and former programme participants, Adam and Chloe bring deep experience and dedication to youth leadership. Adam, who works in technology for an international bank, brings valuable expertise to Youth Leads UK’s ongoing digital transformation, ensuring the organisation remains innovative and future-proof. Chloe, a safeguarding Trustee and mental health practitioner, strengthens the charity’s approach to safeguarding and wellbeing, ensuring young people are supported holistically. Their combined expertise will be instrumental in shaping the next phase of Youth Leads UK’s growth and impact.
Adam Toorawa, Co-Chair of Youth Leads UK, said:
“Technology is transforming the way organisations operate, and I am excited to bring my experience to Youth Leads UK as we invest in digital innovation. Ensuring young people have the tools and opportunities to thrive in an ever-evolving world is at the heart of our mission, and I look forward to helping drive this forward.”
Chloe Bennett, Co-Chair of Youth Leads UK, said:
