Communications & Engagement

Abdul-Rahman is the Communications & Engagement Lead at Youth Leads UK, where he looks after how we tell our story across channels and to different audiences. He shapes our voice, brand, and communications strategy, so that everything we share is clear, consistent, and true to the young people we work with.

He leads youth-led campaigns on the issues that matter to young people, oversees Youth Leads Magazine and Podcast, and mentors Youth Content Creators. He also works with the media to create more space for young people’s voices in public debate.

Abdul-Rahman brings experience in marketing, strategic communications and stakeholder engagement, having worked with elected representatives, civil society organisations and local communities.

Most recently, he led marketing and communications at an international start-up charity helping young people find their feet at university through workshops and safe spaces. He’s also a Patchwork Foundation Masterclass participant, bringing a youth perspective to conversations with politicians, civil society leaders, and community organisers.

A Politics and International Relations graduate from the University of Manchester and a proud Mancunian, he’s passionate about making Manchester a better place to study, work and live.

Outside of work, he enjoys keeping active through playing football (Manchester United fan for anyone wondering) and running.

It’s long overdue that young people are heard, taken seriously, and part of the decisions that affect their lives.
