Prof Janet Lord

Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor, Faculty of Health and Education, MMU

Professor Janet Lord is Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Health and Education at Manchester Metropolitan University. A values-driven leader, Janet believes education and health are the cornerstones of a civilised society. Her leadership style is collegial and supportive, and her recent work explores the role of kindness in leadership.

Janet began her career in finance and consultancy before moving into teaching, specialising in the social sciences. She completed her doctorate in education at the University of Manchester in 2016.

She brings significant experience in educational consultancy and school governance. Janet chairs a Salford school’s Local Governing Committee, is a trustee of a Multi Academy Trust serving young people with special educational needs, and acts as the independent chair of a well-regarded local Priority Education Investment Area Board.

Her research and writing focus on educational disadvantage, teacher identity and agency, communities of practice, and digital pedagogies.
