Youth Leads UK bags £1,000 from Tesco’s community grant scheme

Youth Leads UK will receive £1,000 that it will that will contribute to the costs of their Leadership Programme, for local young people to develop their employability and leadership skills.

The Leadership Programme gives young people the opportunity to create a magazine and write articles for one of the only youth-led magazines in the UK. Alongside taking part in workshops, mentoring and skills training to help gain employment and become decent young adults who can lead of important decisions that affect them and give back to their community through social action.

Leadership Programme participant, Mrwa said:

“Youth Leads has been an exceptional experience. I was able to learn many new skills which helped me profusely, especially skills that will help me in the near future. I also managed to meet new people and make new friends.”

Claire de Silva, Tesco’s Head of Community, said:

“Tesco Community Grants help support local good causes like Youth Leads UK and especially those projects supporting young people, those providing food, and local causes close to our colleagues’ hearts.”

Tesco Community Grants is run in partnership with community-focused charity Groundwork, who has awarded grants to thousands of local community projects every year.

Tesco’s Community Grants scheme – previously Tesco Bags of Help – has already provided over £90 million to more than 40,000 projects across Britain.
