Mia
Mia is a final year History and Sociology student at the University of Manchester, passionate about educational equality and supporting the confidence of young people. Mia has worked with young people for the last five years, as an academic tutor, charity recruitment officer and outreach coordinator with TeamUp Hub in London. Through her work as a teacher and mentor, she has inspired young people to rethink how education and community building go hand in hand as a gateway to opportunity. She specialises in working with children from low-income backgrounds, focusing on platforming marginalised voices in leadership and forefronting the needs of young people today. After joining Youth Leads, Mia has found greater passion in being part of policy reform and charity work, where the intersection of creativity, education and community continues to shape her career and personal goals. In the future, Mia plans to work in restorative justice and youth offending rehabilitation initiatives, applying her skills in civic and social leadership to improve the justice system’s approach to vulnerable youth populations.

To me, leadership and empowerment are about giving young
people spaces to grow. Many young people already know they
have something amazing to offer the world, and giving them the
right networks and resources to explore their ambitions is
where real change is made.
